Veteran comedian and actor Atul Parchure, known for his roles in The Kapil Sharma Show and several other popular television series, passed away on October 14 at the age of 57. Parchure had been battling cancer for several years.

Parchure was widely appreciated for his impeccable comic timing and his ability to bring humor to relatable characters. Over the years, he appeared in a number of television shows, including RK Laxman Ki Duniya, Jaago Mohan Pyaare, Yam Hain Hum, and Badi Doooor Se Aaye Hain. In addition to his work in Hindi television, Parchure was also a familiar face in Marathi serials and films.

Parchure’s Battle with Cancer

In a candid interview with Bombay Times in July, Parchure spoke about his cancer diagnosis and the emotional toll it took. He admitted to being mentally prepared for bad news when he was diagnosed, stating, “It’s not like negative thoughts didn’t cross my mind.” Parchure also shared the challenges he faced due to his inability to work, leading to sleepless nights worrying about income and the high costs of cancer treatment.

He credited Mediclaim and his savings for helping him manage the financial burden. “Mediclaim partly saved me, along with my savings; otherwise, it would have been very difficult,” he said, while expressing gratitude to his family for treating him as normal and not as a patient.

Parchure’s contributions to television and cinema have left a lasting legacy. His work brought joy to many, and he will be fondly remembered for the significant roles he played in shaping Indian comedy.
