Over the demise of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, President Droupadi Murmu expressed condolences and said his death is an “irreparable loss” to the country.

Taking to Twitter Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted, “The death of Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav is an irreparable loss to the country. The achievements of Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji, who came from an ordinary environment, were extraordinary. ‘Dharti Putra’ Mulayam Ji was a down-to-earth veteran leader. He was respected by people of all parties. My deepest condolences to his family members and supporters!”

Earlier on Monday morning Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram at 8:16 am.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav confirmed the news of his death on Twitter and said, “Mere adarniya pitaji aur sabke netaji nahi rahe- Akhilesh Yadav.”

Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolence and said, “Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav Ji was a remarkable personality. He was widely admired as a humble and grounded leader who was sensitive to people’s problems. He served people diligently and devoted his life towards popularising the ideals of Loknayak JP and Dr. Lohia.”

However, Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on 22 November 1939 and was elected 10 times as MLA and 7 times as Lok Sabha MP. In 1967 Yadav’s career began at the age of 28 and founded the Samajwadi Party on 4 October 1992.
