In a significant operation, the police, in conjunction with security forces, apprehended a terrorist associate affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Uri, Baramulla. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition from the individual’s possession.
The arrest unfolded following specific intelligence regarding terrorist movement in the Kamalkoot Mandayan area of Uri. Acting on this information, a joint patrolling team comprising Baramulla Police and Army 8 RR conducted operations in the general vicinity of Kamalkoot Mandayan.
During the patrol, the team observed suspicious movement of an individual approaching them on foot. Upon noticing the presence of the police and security forces, the suspect attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended by the alert patrolling party. The individual was identified as Farooq Ahmed Khokar, son of Salamdin Khokar, and a resident of Kalsi Kamalkoot.
A subsequent search of Farooq Ahmed Khokar led to the recovery of one pistol, two magazines, and twenty rounds of pistol ammunition from his possession.
Following the arrest and recovery, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act at the Police Station Uri. The investigation into the matter has been initiated to uncover further details surrounding the individual’s activities and affiliations.
