Jammu and Kashmir: A day before Union Home minister Amit Shah is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir, a series of terror incidents rocked the Valley, killing 1 terrorist and one police personnel and injuring one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan on Sunday.
The incidents have put the security forces further on alert mode as the Union Home Minister is scheduled to begin his 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from Monday. Shah will review the security situation, launch development projects, address two rallies, and offer prayers at Vaishno Devi temple.

Earlier during the day, a local terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba was neutralised in a joint operation of police and the security forces in Baskuchan area of Sophian.

During the search operation, as the joint search party approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated against effectively, leading to an encounter. The police have recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including one AK rifle, from the site of the encounter.
Police said, that all the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.
The police have urged the public to cooperate until the area has been sanitised and cleared of any explosive materials.
