As Prince Harry prepares to visit England this week, speculation around a possible royal reunion with his father, King Charles, has intensified. However, despite King Charles’s desire to meet his youngest son, it appears that a family meeting is not currently in the cards. Queen Camilla, according to a close friend who spoke with “The Daily Beast”, has reportedly advised the King to avoid the meeting to prevent unnecessary stress while he battles cancer.
King Charles is said to be weighing advice from his close circle, including Queen Camilla, regarding whether to meet with Harry. Advisers have cautioned the King, noting that a meeting could lead to the Duke of Sussex requesting his father’s intervention in his ongoing legal dispute over security arrangements with the British government something they believe could add strain during his treatment.
Although there have been recent efforts to mend the father-son relationship, including Charles publicly wishing Harry a happy birthday on social media, no official meeting has been scheduled. Harry, for his part, has refrained from making further critical remarks about the royal family in the paperback edition of his memoir, “Spare”.
Adding to the complexity, King Charles is set to travel to Scotland during Harry’s visit to the UK. A source close to the matter revealed, “The King has an instinctive desire for reconciliation, and his cancer diagnosis has only intensified that. He wants this issue with Harry resolved not just because he loves both of his sons, but also because it has caused instability for the monarchy.”
However, Queen Camilla remains the strongest advocate for caution. According to her friend, “She has been the primary voice advising Charles to slow down and take things easy. The last thing she wants is for him to be stressed over a meeting with Harry.”
Signs of easing tension within the royal family are faint but present. The royal family’s X (formerly Twitter) account recently wished Harry a happy birthday, a message which was reposted by Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, a source downplayed the gesture, calling it routine. “It’s more about aligning messaging for public appearances. It shows William respects his father’s authority and is willing to follow his lead,” the source explained.
For now, it remains unclear whether the much-anticipated reunion will happen during Harry’s stay in England.
