Chandigarh residents are living in fear as a video went viral on social media depicting a mother and daughter meeting with an accident while being chased by dogs. This incident is just one of several recent cases of dog attacks in the city, heightening concerns among the local population.

Tragedy struck in Manimajra when a ten-year-old girl succumbed to injuries inflicted by dogs in her neighborhood. The young girl was surrounded by dogs while walking on the street, leading to shock and a subsequent panic attack. Sadly, she passed away, and her funeral is being held today, leaving her family devastated.

The fear of dog attacks has spread to Sector 35, where seven people, including multiple residents from the same lane, were bitten by dogs in the last two days. This alarming situation has instilled fear among the local residents, prompting discussions about taking legal action against the municipal corporation for compensation. Approximately 30 to 35 people have reportedly been attacked by dogs in Sector 35 in the first 14 days of December alone.

Following multiple dog attacks, residents are being advised by their relatives to avoid going out. Local authorities are facing criticism for their perceived inaction and lack of effective measures against dog attacks.

Gurdeep Singh Mahal, a senior lawyer, emphasized the deteriorating situation due to dog bites and announced plans to initiate legal action, seeking compensation in line with High Court orders.

Mayor Anup Gupta expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of dog attacks and announced a review of the sterilization campaign to address the issue effectively. The municipal corporation is exploring various options to curb the situation, inviting suggestions and contributions from citizens. However, Councilor Premlata underscored the prevailing terror in Sector 35, stating that people are afraid to step out of their homes due to the recent surge in dog attacks. Multiple incidents in the last two days have raised serious concerns in the area.
