Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has expressed concern over the environmental damage that’s contributing to disasters like floods, landslides, and heavy rains in both Uttarakhand and Telangana. He stressed that when we disrupt nature, it fights back. He pointed out that many colonies are flooded because lakes and ponds have been encroached upon.
To address this, the CM has made it clear that removing these encroachments is a top priority. “We won’t hesitate to demolish illegal structures on water bodies,” he said. He has directed officials to prepare a report on all encroachments and resolve any pending legal issues. He also mentioned how removing encroachments in Hyderabad’s Ram Nagar area helped protect the region from floods.
The CM recently visited the family of young scientist Nunawat Ashwini and her father Motilal, who tragically died when their car was swept away by floodwaters from the Akeru River in Gangaram Thanda. He offered his condolences and promised to explore giving a government job to Ashwini’s younger brother, Ashok. He also assured the family that they would be provided a house under the Indiramma scheme.

Chief Minister Reddy has promised a scientific survey of the Akeru River, which residents say floods every time it overflows. He visited the damaged roads and culvert in Mahbubabad district, where the tragic incident with Ashwini and her father occurred, and spoke with locals to understand their concerns.
Residents of Sitaram Thanda, whose homes were flooded by the Akeru Vagu, shared their struggles with the CM. They explained how their Thanda and two others were severely affected during heavy rains, and they urged the CM to help ensure their safety. In response, the CM promised that the government would merge the three Thandas and build a model colony in one location, with new homes provided through the Indiramma scheme. He also ordered officials to help residents replace important documents lost in the floods.

Furthermore, the CM pledged to build a new bridge after studying the river’s water flow and to divert water to nearby ponds. He assured farmers affected by the Akeru River floods that they would receive Rs. 10,000 per acre in compensation for crop damage.
