A young man, accused of the murder of an 18-year-old college student in Palghar district after her rejection of his marriage proposal, was discovered dead
Prabhakar Waghere (22) was charged with the murder of Archana Udhar, whom he allegedly attacked with a sickle. The tragic incident unfolded as Archana, along with three other students, was returning to their hostel after attending college classes located approximately 500 meters from their residence. Although authorities had initiated a search for Waghere, he remained elusive due to his lack of a cellphone. The family of Archana revealed to the police that Waghere’s parents had previously approached them with a marriage proposal, which had been declined. Subsequently, the family was in the process of arranging Archana’s marriage to another individual.
On the fateful day, after a brief conversation with Archana, Waghere retrieved a sickle from his bag and inflicted a fatal wound on her neck while her three friends were at a distance. Waghere’s family informed law enforcement that Archana had reciprocated his feelings, and they had even taken photographs together. They asserted that Archana and Waghere had been in frequent contact and would meet on multiple occasions.
