TATA Nexon Cheaper After GST Cut: Ex‑Showroom Price Down by upto Rs. 1.55 lakh from 22 September

The automobile sector in India got energized with the new two-slab structure of 5% and 18% under GST. Starting from September 22, 2025, Tata Motors has announced huge price cuts across its entire car and SUV range including the flagship of Tata Nexon model. This strategic implementation of GST reduction is expected to make the cars more affordable for customers and stimulate the growth of the passenger vehicle segment in India. 

According to Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, "The reduction of GST on passenger vehicles, effective from 22nd September 2025, is a very progressive and timely decision whereby personal mobility will be rendered accessible to millions across India".

Tata Nexon is already the leading contender in its segment gains an evil edge to become competitive even under the new GST regime.

Previously classified under the higher slab of 28% GST the vehicle will now fall under the revised category of 18% GST. This brings down the prices to where consumers can treat them as acceptable price cuts and perhaps attract more shortlisted value conscious consumers.

What Will the Tata Nexon Cost After the New 18% GST From September 22?

From the GST rate cut effective September 22, the Tata Nexon will thus be almost Rs. 1.55 lakhs less. This steep price cut would be attractive mainly to first time buyers.

Tata Motors declared the price of Nexon would be effective immediately across Dealerships all over India, giving immediate relief to customers anticipating a price correction.

What Was the Old vs New GST Rate on Tata Nexon?

Under the GST regime the Nexon was being taxed at 28% earlier. Under the newly revised slab effective from late September, the GST on this car will now drop down to 18%. This 10% differential is the driving force behind the price drop.

The GST Council decided to kill the 12% and 28% slabs and set it up in a simplified two-slab structure of 5% and 18% for the benefit of the automotive industry and the consumers at large.
