Swedish luxury car brand, Volvo Car India, and India’s largest EV charging network, ChargeZone, have inaugurated an ultra-fast charging station on the Mumbai-Nashik highway that features a 360 kW star charge power unit with two dynamic load balancing dispensers. This station is located at Food Hills, near Igatpuri, strategically positioning it on one of Maharashtra’s busiest intercity routes.
This new and advanced charging station offers dedicated bays for Volvo EVs, and seamless app-based access for navigation and payments. As mentioned earlier, the intelligent configuration of a 360 kW star charge power unit with two dynamic load balancing dispensers enables optimal power distribution, super-fast charging, and reduced waiting times.
This installation follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023 between ChargeZone and Volvo Cars to expand access to high-speed EV charging across key national corridors, and the plan is to get a few more charging stations added in 2026.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving long distance EV travel, strengthening charging availability, and advancing India’s transition to sustainable mobility, while encouraging the adoption of luxury and performance EVs across the country.
At present, Volvo sells five cars in India and three of them—EX30, EX40, EC40—are all electric. The XC90 and XC60 are the only ICE vehicles in their India portfolio for now, and while they would continue to be on sale (hopefully), the addition of more such ultra-fast charging stations might just compel Volvo to add the EX90 too in the lineup sometime later this year. Fingers crossed.
