Mercedes-Benz has brought back its V-Class to India, and this time it would be assembled here. It will be the second product Mercedes-Benz announced for local production this year. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV was the first one in 2026 to take that route.

The V-Class was earlier offered only as a diesel, but now buyers would have the option to get it with a petrol engine as well. Plus, while earlier it came with two wheelbase options—long and extra-long—in six- and seven-seat configurations, this time only the extra-long wheelbase version will be available, that too in a six-seat format only.

Please also note that while in 2019 when the V-Class was first launched in India, it carried a price tag of 68.40 lakh rupees for the Expression variant (seven seats, extra-long wheelbase), and 81.90 lakh rupees for the Exclusive variant (six seats, long wheelbase), and it was imported from the company’s Vitoria plant in Spain.

However, the locally assembled V-Class is a bit different than the one still being manufactured in Spain in terms of India-specific enhancements on the former, and you’ll get to know all of that and more in this story shortly.

But first, let’s talk about the dimensions.

MERCEDES-BENZ V-CLASS SIZE VS TOYOTA VELLFIRE VS LEXUS LM VS MG M9 VS KIA CARNIVAL

Ladies and gentlemen, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will again continue to be the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) with the longest wheelbase among all MPVs sold in India. That’s really saying something as the Indian market has seen the entry of some really big MPVs in the last few years while the V-Class was away.

For perspective, in wheelbase wars, the V-Class with its 3,430 mm wheelbase beats everything from the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM (3,000 mm each) to the MG M9 (3,200 mm) and Kia Carnival (3,090 mm).

Moreover, at 5,370 mm long, the V-Class is also the longest MPV of them all. Again, for reference, the MG M9 measures 5,200 mm in length, Kia Carnival is 5,155 mm long, while the Japanese cousins stand at around 5,005–5,125 mm in length depending on the variant/model.

The V-Class is wider (1,928 mm) than both the Vellfire (1,850 mm) and LM (1,890 mm) but narrower than the M9 (2,000 mm) and Carnival (1,995 mm).

However, it’s the Japs that stand the tallest at 1,940–1,955 mm (depending on variant/model), followed closely by the V-Class (1,880 mm) and M9 (1,840 mm) with the Carnival taking the last spot at 1,775 mm.

MERCEDES-BENZ V-CLASS ENGINE & GEARBOX

As mentioned earlier, this time the V-Class is coming with both petrol and diesel engine options.

The petrol is a 1,999 cc unit with mild hybrid technology and the claimed peak power output is (mild hybrid). The diesel engine’s displacement is 1,951 cc and the claimed peak power output is 174 kW. Merc’s 9G-TRONIC would be the transmission in both cars.
