Former Australia captain Ian Chappell has said that Virat Kohli used Rishabh Pant as a batsman very well. Actually Virat had faith in his ability, as a result he showed confidence in Pant and Pant also proved it many times.
Looking at Rishabh Pant’s performance his approach is very flexible. He can also play the role of a finisher at number 6 or 7 in white ball cricket and at number four he can take good advantage of the middle overs too. These are the overs when spinners are introduced but he plays well against left arm spinners and leg spinners as well. He does not face any kind of problem in front of them. The rest of the left-right combination is also very useful for India. He is the kind of player you can use anywhere. His natural game is quite aggressive. Fans also want him to perform consistently and win matches for India. Of course today he is winning one match out of four for India. If this average increases further or you can say he starts winning two matches out of four, then he can prove to be a big match finisher of Team India. He just have to focus on shot selection.
Also, I am very satisfied with the performance of the Indian team in the Under-19 WC. Yash Dhul has shown that he has the potential to become a big player of the future. On one occasion in U-16 cricket, I have seen him play 180 plus runs. He has good technique and plays shots late. His maturity level is superb at this young age. If he keeps playing like this, I am sure that he will soon be able to make a place in Delhi’s Ranji team. And from there he will be able to stake his claim for the senior team as he has no dearth of abilities. Apart from this, left arm spinner Vicky Oswal has also impressed me a lot.
He also uses flights. Looking at the strength, India has shown in league matches, Team India is the favourite in the final against England which take place on Saturday. Indian boys just need to play to their abilities.
