Procam International, the organizer of the Tata Mumbai Marathon, has announced that running icon Meb Keflezighi will serve as the ambassador for the 19th edition of the World Athletics Gold Label Race on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Meb Keflezighi, renowned for his incredible achievements in the running world, will bring his inspirational presence to the prestigious event.
Meb Keflezighi, also known as Mebrahtom “Meb” Keflezighi, holds a remarkable record, being the sole runner to secure victories in the Olympic Games (2004), New York City Marathon (2009), and Boston Marathon (2014). His legacy includes numerous top-10 finishes in the New York Marathon and setting a TCS New York City Marathon masters event record in 2015. Keflezighi is recognized as the first American male to win the Boston Marathon since 1983 and the oldest winner of the Boston Marathon since 1930, achieving this feat at the age of 39 in 2014.
Apart from his dominance in road races, track, and cross country, Meb Keflezighi is a former USA National 10,000m track record holder.
Beyond his athletic prowess, he manages ‘The MEB Foundation,’ a non-profit organization in Ghana, focusing on enhancing youth health, education, and fitness globally. The foundation empowers youth and families to lead healthy lifestyles and engages them in academics and sports.
Keflezighi, an accomplished author with books like ‘Run to Overcome,’ expressed his excitement about attending the Tata Mumbai Marathon, stating, “The Tata Mumbai Marathon has been on my bucket list for the longest time, and finally being able to witness Mumbai’s indomitable spirit is indeed exciting!”
