Tamil star Thalapathay Vijay announced his foray into politics and his new party. Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), on February 2. Now, it looks like another Tamil actor may also venture into politics. The Mark Anthony star issued a statement on Wednesday where he spoke about all the welfare activities he has been engaged in for some years now and how he now wants to ensure that people across the Tamil Nadu constituencies will benefit. He wrote that he wanted to bring in welfare measures for the people of the state but he was not doing this for fame. But he clearly hinted at politics in time to come.

46-year-old Vishal has always had his eye on politics, say those who know him well. In 2017, he had his first taste of politics when he filed a nomination in the RK Nagar by-poll election and was rejected as he didn’t have 10 proposers. He is probably biding his time till the outcome of the 2026 elections before taking the plunge, say some political analysts.
Vishal wrote, “I am forever indebted to the people of Tamil Nadu who recognized me as an actor and social worker in the society. With the aim of helping people as much as I can, from the beginning, I thought that my fan club should not be treated as an average club, but it should be run to benefit people. We have been running the fan club with the aim of doing our best for those who are in need.”

He wants to create a welfare movement and said, “The next step is to create a people’s welfare movement and work district-wise, constituency-wise and branch-wise.
Through the Devi Foundation, run in the name of my mother, we help many poor and needy students every year. We are also helping affected farmers.”

Similar to what politicians do on their padayatra, Vishal wrote he had been meeting the people of the state during his travels and spoken to them about their grievances. “I meet people in many places where I go for shooting and listen to their basic needs and grievances and fulfill their demands through my people’s welfare movement. I have never expected political gains while indulging in welfare activities. If nature demands, then I will not hesitate to speak for the people in future,” stated the Rathnam star.
