Tamil actor Daniel Balaji, known for his work in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada films, has passed away at the age of 48 due to cardiac arrest. He died while en route to a hospital in Chennai. His mortal remains are currently at his Purasaiwakkam residence for the final rites.
Born in December 1975, Daniel Balaji initially worked as a unit production manager on Kamal Haasan’s unfinished project ‘Marudhunayagam’. He made his acting debut on television with the Tamil series ‘Chithi’, where he portrayed the character of Daniel. His first Tamil film was ‘April Maadhathil’, followed by a role in ‘Kaadhal Kondein’.
Balaji garnered acclaim for his performances in films such as ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’, ‘Vada Chennai’, and ‘Polladhavan’. He also played a villainous role in the Telugu film ‘Chirutha’. In Malayalam cinema, he debuted with ‘Black’ and later appeared in ‘Bhagavan’ alongside Mohanlal, as well as in Mammootty’s action film ‘Daddy Cool’. In 2023, he was part of the Tamil action-drama ‘Ariyavan’.
