FIVE MYSTERIOUS TEMPLES AROUND INDIA

India is well known for its cultural diversity, which also accounts for a land of 64 crore gods and goddesses with ancient roots and being called the “land of temples.” The country’s well-known tourist destinations provide tourists with a plethora of options. Each temple has some sort of significance, whereas some temples have strange and mysterious stories associated with them. Here are five temples with oddly astonishing mysteries:

MEHANDIPUR BALAJI TEMPLE

When it comes to getting rid of the ghosts, thousands of devotees turn up at Mehandipur Balaji Temple. Apparently, this is the only temple where exorcism rites are carried out. Pouring boiling water, hanging from ceiling, banging heads against the walls are some of the common exorcism practices that are carried out to get rid of all things evil.

KAMAKHYA DEVI TEMPLE

Another one of the most famous temples in India is the Maa Kamakhya Devi Temple, which is in Assam. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the Indian subcontinent. This temple, instead of having a sculpture to worship, has the yoni, or vagina, of Devi Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, covered with a red silk sari.

BULLET BABA TEMPLE

As the strangeness of the temple itself reflects in the name, Bullet Baba’s temple has a mysterious legend associated with it. The temple was made in the name of Om Singh Rathore, who met with a fatal accident and died on the spot, and the bike was found at the same spot in spite of being taken into police custody.

STAMBHESHWAR MAHADEV TEMPLE

You must have come across several mysteries in regards to the temples, but this is one such temple that appears and disappears throughout the day. Located close to Vadodara in Gujarat, it is one of the most mysterious temples in India.

KAL BHAIRAV NATH TEMPLE

In the holy city of Varanasi resides the abode of Lord Kal Bhairav Nath, and to our surprise, the only offering that is made to God is alcohol. Alcohol is poured directly into the deity’s open mouth, and the same is offered to the devotees as prashad.
