In a crucial match at the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan secured a vital victory against Ireland by three wickets at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. This win propelled Pakistan to third place in Group A with four points, while Ireland remained at the bottom without a win. Despite the victory, both teams were confirmed to not progress to the Super Eight stage.

Pakistan’s success in restricting Ireland to 106/9 in their allotted 20 overs was largely due to excellent bowling performances from Imad Wasim and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who both claimed three wickets each. Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, made a significant contribution with the bat, guiding his team to victory with a composed innings.

Having won the toss, Babar Azam opted to bowl first, a decision that paid off as Pakistan’s bowlers effectively contained Ireland’s batting lineup. The win allowed Pakistan to finish their group stage campaign on a positive note, although they fell short of advancing further in the tournament.

India and the United States progressed from Group A, finishing with seven and five points respectively, highlighting their dominance over Pakistan and Ireland in the competition.
