Previously, the Delhi Police brought Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to the CM’s residence as part of the investigation into the Swati Maliwal assault case. Kumar was detained at the CM’s house and arrested on Saturday in connection with the assault.
Following his arrest, Kumar was remanded to a five-day police custody by Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court. The court noted, “the fact that the mobile phone was formatted by the accused and the video footage was not found in the pendrive provided by the JE to the IO during the course of the investigation speaks volumes.” Additionally, the court acknowledged that this was not Kumar’s first encounter with the law.
In response to Kumar’s detention, Kejriwal referred to it as “Jail ka Khel,” accusing the Prime Minister of orchestrating a political vendetta against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Kejriwal claimed in a video message shared on Saturday that the BJP-led government is systematically targeting and imprisoning AAP leaders.
