West Bengal, India’s East Medinipur, 18 May: Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has filed a plea with the Calcutta High Court asking for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation into the explosion that claimed life in an illegal firecracker factory in East Medinipur.
Today at 2 PM is probably the time for the hearing. Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a huge explosion at a factory in the Khadikul hamlet beneath the Egra police station claimed the lives of nine individuals and injured many more.

In addition, three people were held by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the Tuesday explosion at an unauthorised firework plant.
His son and nephew, Krishnapada Bagh alias Bhanu Bagh, have been recognised as the detained individual.
“Bhanu Bagh is receiving medical attention in a hospital in Cuttack after becoming hurt. He is currently immovable. We are asking the Odisha police to keep an eye out. Two other people, Bhanu Bag’s son and two nephews, have been apprehended, according to CID officials on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Adhikari attacked Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, calling her a “failed home minister” and calling for her to step down.
The blast scene in the West Bengali town of Egra, which claimed nine lives on Tuesday, was inspected by Adhikari on Wednesday.
In this illicit workshop, bombs were made. Elections for panchayats are coming up. The factory owner and TMC are working together. A local TMC activist named One Bhanu Bagh served as a Panchayat Member from 2013 and 2018. Mamata Banerjee has provided him with protection, the man claimed.

He continued by saying that Mamata Banerjee should resign as chief executive of West Bengal since she had failed in her role as home minister.
“The Chief Minister ought to give up her post. I have requested that the NIA conduct a probe into this matter, said LoP Adhikari.
Adhikari further claimed that the police and the state government were to blame for the event and that each person harmed by the explosion at the firecracker plant should receive Rs 10 lakh from them.

The factory was allegedly operating illegally, and the proprietor had been detained and charged last year, according to the police.
After receiving the file from the State government, the West Bengal Police CID began an investigation into the occurrence with the aid of forensic specialists.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2.5 lakh for the surviving family members of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.
Sukanta Majumdar, the head of the West Bengal BJP, demanded a “comprehensive probe” into the incident in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He added that the NIA should be given control of the investigation.
