With the CBI unable to find any substantial clue that would suggest that actor Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered, the agencies are exploring drug angles in the case. Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has come into action zeroing in on individuals who are supposed to be part of drug cartels in Mumbai. Apart from other angles being probed by the CBI, the NCB has become hyper-active to bring to the fore some essential clues that might crack the case.

As part of this exercise, NCB managed to get custody of Zaid Vilatra, one of the accused it had arrested in the drug probe related to the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. A Mumbai court on Thursday granted the NCB seven days of custody of Vilatra.

NCB got 7-day custody of Zaid Vilatra in a drug probe after Zaid’s connection with Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik developed.

Asking for Zaid Vilatra’s custody NCB’s remand copy accessed by The Daily Guardian read, “The NCB is investigating drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput case and therefore is highly substantive and needs to be investigated thoroughly and so as to uproot a drug citadel in the Mumbai especially Bollywood.”

Informing the court that Zaid was involved in drug dealings and he has revealed many names, thus, his custody is crucial and essential to get the main players in the drug field.

“The investigation in the case is at a preliminary stage as the revelation made by the accused is to be verified, and the known as well as the unknown accused need to be traced and apprehended,” the statement added.

The name of Zaid came into light after disclosure made by accused Abbas Ramzan Ali, 21, who was caught with 46 grams of marijuana ganja. Ali informed that he purchased this drug from Karan Arora and later NCB apprehended Karan with 13 gm of ganja. A total of 59 grams of ganja were found and the two of them were arrested.

Zaid Vilatra was raided by NCB and they found Indian currency worth Rs 9,55,750 and foreign currency USD 2,081, 180 British Pounds, 15 dirhams. Zaid’s statement was also recorded where he accepted that the seized amount is the sale proceeds of contraband and he had supplied more Marijuana /Ganja/ Bud psychotropic substances to many persons and he had disclosed few names with their details.
