Suppose when you’ve been fantasizing about a gift for ages, and after long wait it’s at your doorstep! You can hardly contain your excitement as you tear into the package, only to be met with crushing disappointment. This was the reality for one individual who was eagerly awaiting a PlayStation 5 from a close friend. When the much-anticipated box arrived, it looked like a PS5— but wait! Inside was nothing but the empty outer shell. Yes, you heard it correctly! Just the box, while the coveted console was missing in action.

The Reddit Post That Sparked a Conversation

A Reddit user, known as “shubhfaldu87,” took to the platform’s “India” community to share his frustrating experience. He wrote, “Found a PS4 in a PS5 box! Made a complaint for the same at CS, return failed and no one came to pick up the product twice! Is this what we expect from Amazon now? Is anyone here bothered by this issue with their products this year on Amazon?”

In his post, he included three images that detailed the situation. The first image shows the PS5 box he ordered from Amazon. The second image reveals a PS4 box inside the PS5 packaging. The third image displays a screenshot from the Amazon app, indicating that the return process was initiated on October 8, but the pickup attempt failed the following day, October 9, with a message stating, “Pickup attempted – package not ready.”

Investigation and Refund Process

The Redditor mentioned that Amazon would investigate the issue and issue a refund by October 16, 2024. Since posting his experience five days ago, the post has garnered over 1,400 upvotes and sparked numerous comments from fellow users.

Mixed Reactions on Social Media

Commenters expressed their frustrations and humor regarding the situation. One user lamented, “These scammers have ruined the concept of e-commerce.” Another pointed out the complications of online shopping, stating, “There are too many tick marks to check now—Prime, Assured, AZ delivered, return replacement policy. Amazon is still better than Flipkart; it’s usually delivery boys who are overburdened. Flipkart is just straight-up scamming people, delivering a defective product but no returns because of seller policy, no negative reviews, and no customer service.”

Adding a touch of humor, another Redditor joked, “Seller tried his best to not completely disappoint you at least.” Another user quipped, “It’s a premature PlayStation; you have to wait 9 months before it matures into PS5.”
