The Supreme Court in the case observed wherein the Public Interest Litigation, PIL has been moved by lawyer seeking judicial investigation under the supervision of a retired SC judge into the security breach which happened in the Lok Sabha on December 13.

In the present case, the two men on December 13, 2023 who had entered the Parliament on visitors’ passes, jumped from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha Hall and opened smoke cannisters, filling the house with coloured smoke.

The court stated that this this incident is being exposed a major breach in the security system of the Parliament, Supreme Court lawyer Abu Sohel filed the petition invoking Article 32 of the Constitution of India.

The petitioner in the plea seeks an ‘independent, credible and impartial’ Judicial investigation under the supervision of a Retired Supreme Court Judge into the incident.

Further, the Delhi Police have registered an FIR invoking the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in connection with the incident. Thus, the Five persons – Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam Verma, Amol Shinde and Lalit Jha- have been arrested in the case so far. Recently, a Delhi Court remanded the arrested persons to police custody for seven days.
