The Central Government has notified the appointments of Chief Justices for six High Courts. The names are as follows: Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava, presently Acting as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. Thus, his parent High Court is Chhattisgarh High Court.
Justice Ritu Bahri, presently Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, presently the Judge of Patna High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. Justice Vijay Bishnoi, the presently Judge of Rajasthan High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. Justice Arun Bhansali, the presently Judge of Rajasthan High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
Justice S Vaidyanathan, the presently Judge of Madras High Court appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium made the said recommendation in December 2023 with regards to the elevation of Justice Arun Bhansali, Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava as Chief Justices. The Supreme Court Collegium made the other three recommendations in November 2023.
Presently, the three High Courts are functioning without a regular Chief Justice. Therefore, the High Courts of Delhi, Jharkhand, Punjab and Haryana are having Acting Chief Justices. There is no Supreme Court collegium recommendation made for Delhi High Court Chief Justice yet.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommendations to elevate Justice Sheel Nagu, Madhya Pradesh High Court and Justice BR Sarangi, the Orissa High Court as the Chief Justices of Punjab and Haryana and Jharkhand High Courts respectively await the Centre’s clearance.
