Former sarpanch and professor Sunil Jaglan, who initiated numerous campaigns for women’s empowerment and rural development from the village of Bibipur in the Jind district of Haryana, was the sole individual honored for his commendable work on Republic Day. Notably, he became a special guest along with his family on this occasion. Sunil Jaglan was previously recognized in the 100th episode of the Prime Minister’s radio program, “Mann Ki Baat.”
Sunil Jaglan expressed that this achievement is not just for him but is a significant accomplishment for all fathers of daughters. He highlighted how the Selfie with Daughter campaign, initiated from a village, has turned into an international movement, gaining recognition from more than 80 countries worldwide. This campaign has been acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi multiple times in his Mann Ki Baat programs. Sunil Jaglan explained that during the historic 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi directly spoke with him, recognizing the impact of his campaigns.
It’s worth mentioning that Sunil Jaglan has initiated several campaigns, including Save the Girl Child, Selfie with Daughter, Nameplates for Daughters, Period Chart, Ladli Panchayat, Ladlo Online, and raising the legal age of marriage for girls to 21. These campaigns have not only garnered praise nationally but also received acclaim globally.
Sunil Jaglan, a two-time national award winner, is the former sarpanch of Bibipur village in the Jind district. He began the Beti Bachao campaign in 2012, and his Selfie with Daughter campaign has gained fame nationally and internationally. Additionally, he has received recognition from President Ram Nath Kovind for the authorized documentary film “Sunrise,” and the film is being showcased in 73 countries worldwide.
