Sundar Pichai Hails PM Modi's 'Clear Vision' for AI in India

PM Narendra Modi spoke with prominent IT CEOs, such as Google’s Sundar Pichai and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, during his three-day visit to the US. While Modi emphasised India’s dedication to intellectual property protection, the talks centred on the country’s potential and the opportunities it presents.

Along with Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, Arvind Krishna of IBM, and Lisa Su of AMD, there were other notable people present at the roundtable in New York.

Following the roundtable meeting with PM Narendra Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai remarked that the Prime Minister is dedicated to transforming India through his Digital India initiative. He pointed out that Modi encouraged ongoing manufacturing and design efforts in India, proudly noting that Pixel phones are now made there.

Pichai mentioned that the Prime Minister is exploring how AI can be leveraged to benefit the Indian populace, urging them to think about its applications in fields such as healthcare, education, and agriculture. He also indicated that Modi is considering the essential infrastructure needed for AI, including data centers and energy investments, to facilitate India’s progress.

Pichai expressed Google’s commitment to significant investment in AI within India and their enthusiasm for expanding these initiatives, having already launched several programs and partnerships. He emphasized that Modi continually pushes them to do more for India, especially in the realm of AI. Pichai concluded that the Prime Minister has a clear vision regarding the potential of AI and is focused on ensuring that its advantages ultimately benefit the people of India.
