In a recent development, Sumer Pratap Singh, a distinguished IPS officer from the 2012 batch of the Haryana cadre, has been appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Traffic and Security in the Chandigarh Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Central Government issued official orders mandating Sumer Pratap Singh to serve the Chandigarh UT Administration for a tenure of three years.
At present, Sumer Pratap Singh holds the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Panchkula. The need for a new appointment arose following the withdrawal of Haryana Cadre IPS officer Manisha Chaudhary from the position of SSP Traffic and Security within the Haryana Government, effective November 30, 2023. Subsequently, Kanwardeep Kaur, the SSP of Chandigarh, assumed the additional responsibility of SSP Traffic for Chandigarh.
Widely recognized for his honesty and dedication, Sumer Pratap Singh is considered one of the principled police officers in Haryana. He hails from a distinguished family, with his father, Narendra Singh, being a retired Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officer from Punjab.
