Kheri Lok Sabha seat actually has popularly known as Lakhimpur Kheri. The world famous Dudhwa National Park is located in this parliamentary seat.
Being in UP’s Terai, Kheri is rich in natural resources with many rivers.
Bordering Nepal, this area shares its borders with Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Bahraich and Hardoi districts.
As far as political turmoil is concerned, this seat started being discussed all over the world during the farmers’ movement.
At present, BJP’s prominent and popular leader Ajay Mishra Teni is MP from here.
Ajay Mishra Teni has a good influence in Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur and surrounding districts.
Teni was know as Maharaj in the Lakhimpur area before entering politics. He used to try his hand at wrestling, In 2012 UP assembly elections, he became MLA by winning the Nighasan seat on BJP ticket. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP trusted him by giving him ticket from Kheri and he reached Parliament after winning the election from the area with a huge margin of about 3 lakhs votes.
Teni’s name was also linked to the murder case but later he was acquitted by the court. Then in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 also, Ajay Mishra was made the BJP candidate from Kheri seat. This time too, Mishra’s victory figure was above two lakhs.
The name of Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra in the case of crushing farmers with a car in Lakhimpur Kheri had also become a big political development. At present he is the Minister of State for Home in the Modi cabinet and is also very famous in his field.
Kheri MP Ajay Mishra Teni is also the Union Minister of State for Home.
Earlier this seat was held by Congress but for the first time in 1991, the lotus blossomed here. After that, it was occupied by Samajwadi Party and Congress in between. However since the last two general elections, BJP’s hold on this seat has strengthened.
However the condition of this area is not very good on the issue of development.
There has been a lot of politics in the matter of development in the parliamentary constituency.
Development is visible in urban areas but there is a lot of backwardness in rural areas.
The scale of development appears different in every assembly here. There are about 19 lakh voters in Kheri Lok Sabha seat. Development on this seat is discussed throughout the years but during elections the caste card becomes dominant here.
Dalit-Muslim voters are in large numbers here, whereas Kurmi and Brahmin voters are also decisive for victory and defeat.
Development is a big issue in this Lok Sabha seat but the voters here are stuck in the dilemma of caste and muscle power. The tourism infrastructure looks good only till Dudhwa National Park, whereas the pace of development in other areas is very slow.
There are many problems that require great attention.
The general election of 2024 is very special for Kheri Lok Sabha. Before the elections, the people here must be evaluating the work of their MP.
India News is also conducting a survey to test the MPs and is putting the public’s opinion before the country.
So let’s see what is in the report card of BJP MP from Kheri Lok Sabha Ajay Mishra Teni, is he pass or fail?
First let’s see MP’s performance in Parliament which include his attendance in Parliament, number of questions and MP fund expenditure and special contribution. MP’s attendance in Parliament is estimated to be around.
96 percent. At the same time, it is estimated that he is seen taking part in about 95 percent parliamentary debates and questions asked and have also been giving suggestions for the development of the region and the country. If we talk about MP fund, then 98 percent of the expenditure is done and the special contribution in parliamentary proceedings is seen to be around 68 percent. On this basis, MP gets 0.89 marks out of one i.e. 89 percent marks in 1st position, which is fantastic.
However, parliamentary performance matters very little at the time of elections. What the public thinks about their MP on the ground is the real criterion. In India News’ survey, we asked some questions to the people of this Lok Sabha and the people of this Lok Sabha seat have answered those questions with open heart. After talking to thousands of people, see what the public’s verdict has comes out. Please see box of MP record card (ground) for that.
