CHENNAI: Making an indirect reference on Rajinikanth, DMK president M.K. Stalin, while virtually addressing the party cadres from Ramanathapuram district, took a jibe at the Tamil superstar and his ideology of spiritual politics. Stalin said, “Some people think they can defeat DMK with spirituality. But Swami Vivekananda has said that doing good for people is real spirituality. Vivekananda also said serving others and being good at heart is the best form of spirituality and our party was created for that purpose.”
He commented on Rajinikanth for the first time after the latter announced his decision to float a political party and face the 2021 Assembly elections. Stalin narrated a story to the cadres and said: “Today some are merely acting and DMK continues to serve people.” He further added that DMK was started by Aringar Anna to serve the downtrodden, oppressed and for scheduled people’s betterment. This comment comes after DMK leaders maintain that they will reach out to Rajinikanth, only after he makes his political ideology clear.
As per Political analysts in the run-up to the assembly elections, such barbs at Rajinikanth will increase against him and his proposed spiritual politics.
