Gautam Gambhir, the team mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), praised Shah Rukh Khan as the best owner he has ever worked with. Despite leading KKR for seven years, Gambhir returned to the team in a managerial role rather than as a player.
Before the ongoing season, Gambhir rejoined the franchise as the team mentor, highlighting his enduring connection with KKR. Alongside Gambhir, the franchise has benefited from the presence of co-owner Shah Rukh Khan.
Gambhir revealed that despite their association, he and Shah Rukh Khan rarely discuss cricket. He emphasized the trust and mutual respect between them, citing instances where Shah Rukh Khan never delved into cricket-related conversations during Gambhir’s captaincy tenure.
Following Gambhir’s return, KKR has experienced a resurgence, finishing at the top of the table for the first time in the competition’s history. Despite the team’s success, Gambhir noted that he hasn’t discussed cricket with Shah Rukh Khan, except for a brief exchange in 2011.
Gambhir attributed the strong bond between them to honesty and accountability, expressing confidence in their ability to address challenges together. As KKR prepares for the playoffs, Gambhir highlighted the importance of trust and mutual understanding in their dynamic.
KKR is set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 1 match as they continue their quest for the IPL title.
