After meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the team flew to Mumbai, where a grand open bus parade and a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium marked the extraordinary achievement. The festivities continued as the players dispersed to their respective homes, with Rohit Sharma receiving a heartwarming welcome at his residence in Mumbai.

Warm Welcome at Ahuja Towers

Rohit Sharma arrived at his residence at the Ahuja Towers in Worli, Mumbai, to a grand welcome orchestrated by his childhood friends and family members. The Indian cricketer was greeted with a special celebration inside the society, where his friends and family saluted him and imitated the famous ‘strut’ by WWE legend Rick Flair, reminiscent of Rohit’s iconic moment of collecting the World Cup Trophy from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

Touching Gesture and Dedication

Rohit Sharma took to his personal Instagram account to dedicate the World Cup win to the entire nation, expressing, “This is for YOU.” The captain’s heartfelt message resonated with his fans, acknowledging the collective support and pride of the nation in the team’s historic victory.

T20 World Cup Triumph and Retirement

Rohit Sharma’s significant contribution to the T20 World Cup victory, including a career-best performance with the bat, culminated in a memorable retirement from the shortest format of the game. He retired as the third Indian captain, after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, to win a T20 World Cup, marking his legacy as a double T20 World Cup champion. In his illustrious T20I career, Rohit amassed 4,231 runs at an average of 32.05, featuring five centuries and 32 fifties. His retirement announcement marked the end of an era in T20 cricket, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as the leading run-scorer in the format.

Legacy and Unbeaten Champion

Rohit Sharma’s legacy was further solidified by leading Team India to become the first unbeaten champion in the tournament’s history, culminating in a 13-year-long wait for a World Cup trophy. His exemplary leadership and batting prowess were pivotal in India’s victorious campaign, showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion and deliver exceptional performances on the grandest stage of T20 cricket.

Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20 cricket comes as a momentous milestone in his career, signifying the end of an era and leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
