T20 World Cup Semifinal: Who Will India And Afghanistan Face?
After 52 thrilling matches, the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup has reached the semifinal stage with four teams securing their spots. Defending champions England were the first to qualify with a decisive win over the USA. South Africa followed by clinching the top spot in Group 1 with a low-scoring victory against the West Indies on Sunday.
India maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament with a commanding win against Australia in St. Lucia, securing their place in the semifinals. Afghanistan clinched the final spot after a rain-affected match in Kingstown against Bangladesh. The Afghan team had to win to edge out Australia, and despite a modest score of 115 for five, they managed to restrict Bangladesh in a revised chase of 114 in 19 overs, winning by 8 runs on the DLS method.

This will be the seventh T20 World Cup meeting between India and England. India leads the head-to-head 4-2 but lost their previous semifinal encounter against England in the 2022 ICC event. Afghanistan, making their first-ever semifinal appearance in an ICC event, has faced South Africa twice in T20 World Cups (2010 and 2016) and lost both encounters.
