Golden State Warriors supporters are eagerly waiting for news on the health of Stephen Curry following the superstar guard leaving Thursday’s game against the Toronto Raptors due to a visible injury. Curry took a hard fall on his tailbone during a third-quarter drive and sustained a pelvic contusion.
The blow was bad, with the thud of his tailbone on the court ringing out. Stephen Curry was grimacing in pain as he tried to walk it off, rubbing his lower back before going to the locker room. Despite wanting to play on, the Warriors sat him for the remainder of the game.
Steve Kerr Gives Injury Update
Head coach Steve Kerr did confirm Curry had an MRI and was already itching to get back on the court before getting benched.
“We decided not to risk anything,” Kerr said. “Hopefully, he’s not bad.”
Curry scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting, with 2-of-4 beyond the arc, before leaving. The Warriors did win a close 117-114 game even without their ace player.
Warriors on a Hot Streak, But Face Uncertainty
The injury of Stephen Curry was the most important moment of the Warriors’ season. The team had been on a historic tear since the trade deadline acquisition of Jimmy Butler, with 15 victories in their last 18 games. Butler has added to Curry’s game, increasing his scoring average from 22.1 points per contest to 28.1, with enhanced three-point shooting.
Currently in sixth position in the Western Conference with a 41-29 record, the Warriors occupy the last guaranteed playoff position. With only 12 games remaining in the regular season, they are praying that Curry’s injury is not severe.
His availability is still in doubt, and the team will release more information as it becomes available.
