Tickets for the Final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 sold out in just two hours of being available, an indication of huge anticipation for the match. All 12 categories of tickets ranging from the premium AED 12,000 seats (approx. ₹3,00,000) to the lowest priced AED 250 tickets (approx. ₹5,940) were booked quickly, disappointments for many fans.
Fans are still hoping to attend can check Virgin Megastore or the Dubai International Cricket Stadium box office for last-minute availability. Its 25,000-seat capacity has already witnessed crowded houses when India played its group-stage match, and the demand for the final has never been higher.
Subhan Ahmed, COO of Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) explained that how the crowds have picked up as the tournament progressed.
“The crowds have picked up gradually. It (for the India vs Bangladesh match) was more than 60% (turnout). Some countries are facing challenges to travel, which could be a factor. However, the turnout for the subsequent matches has been very good. The ticket sales were around 95% (of the capacity). Maybe, some people didn’t turn up after buying the tickets! Today (March 2), there’s around a 93% turnout, and it will increase as the day wears on,” he said.
India’s Path to the Final
India charged into the final with a clinical display against Australia, winning the semi-final at the Dubai International Stadium by four wickets.
India’s bowlers laid the foundation, denying Australia from putting on a huge total. Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded the attack with a scorching spell, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up vital breakthroughs.
Virat Kohli again exhibited his class, stabilising the chase with a solid half-century. India wrapped up the victory with four wickets remaining, becoming the first team to qualify for three successive Champions Trophy finals.
New Zealand Qualify for the Final
India has already reserved its position in the final, but the other position was to be filled till New Zealand completed their inning. Fans was asumpted that South Africa could easily chased the highest store of 362 in 50 overs but with the help of centuary by David Miller, the South African team could only achieve till 312 and lost the way to finals byb 50 runs.
Rachin Ravindra and Williamson played an important part for the huge score by New Zealand as both the players secured their centuries during the first innings.
Why Is the Final Being Held in Dubai Rather Than Lahore?
Although Pakistan was to be the official host of Champions Trophy 2025, the final was relocated to Dubai because of an unresolved rift between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Consequently, all Indian matches were relocated to the UAE. Upon India qualifying for a final, organizers had confirmed Dubai as the venue.
