During a game, a football player was sent off for clutching his opponent’s genitals in a disturbing act of unsportsmanlike behaviour.

The incident occurred in an AFC Champions League Elite match between Malaysia’s Johor Darul Ta’zim and Thailand’s Buriram United. Towards the end of the first half, Theerathon Bunmathan of Buriram United fell after being fouled by Arif Aiman of Johor Darul Ta’zim. Aiman then offered to help Bunmathan get up.

On-field drama

At the end of the first half, Buriram United’s Theerathon Bunmathan fell to the ground after being fouled by Arif Aiman of Johor Darul Ta’zim. Aiman then offered to help Bunmathan get up.

Bunmathan accepted and slowly stood up, but then something unexpected happened. Without warning, Bunmathan pinched Aiman’s genitals. Aiman immediately collapsed to the ground in pain, rolling on the grass while clutching his crotch.

The referee did not initially see the incident and sought assistance from the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). After the review, Bunmathan was given a red card.

Public Reaction

Viewers were quick to condemn the behavior. One commented, “Doesn’t deserve to be a captain. These are not how a professional footballer should behave. Really bad character and mindset. It shows their true personality in real life outside of the game.”

Match Ends in a Draw

Despite the drama, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams were fighting for a spot in the Round of 16.
