Saudi Arabia to participate in Mt Everest international yoga championship

Saudi Arabia’s national team is preparing to compete in their first international competition, the 2nd Mt Everest International Yoga Championship, which will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 8 June to 10 June, according to Saudi Arabia-based Arab News.

The Saudi team arrived in the capital on 1 June and is undergoing special training under the direction of head coach Vijay Yadav. According to the reports, Vijay Yadav has won more than 50 medals in his career, including five gold.

Saudi Yoga Committee President Expressed Pride

Al-Malki, who is also a yoga instructor, told a press conference before their departure that the team was ready for their first international championship, according to Arab News.

“We are ready to participate in the yoga championship in Nepal to raise the flag of Saudi Arabia. And the spread of yoga has become (important) for us. It is always better to start from a young age to practice this sport,” Arab News quoted Al-Malki as saying.

Bader Al-Ghamdi, Saudi Arabia’s youngest athlete at the age of eight, said he was excited to compete in the junior category. He expressed his desire to win a medal at the championship. Al-Ghamdi stated that he enjoys yoga because it teaches him “how to breathe, exercise, and balance,” and that his ambition is to become a professional yoga player.
