Rohit Sharma smashes most sixes in ICC Cricket World Cup history

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made history on Wednesday by becoming the player with the most sixes in the history of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Rohit achieved this milestone during India’s World Cup semifinal match against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
The skipper showcased supreme form, providing yet another stellar start for India with a short but impactful innings. He smashed 47 runs in 29 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes, at a strike rate of over 162.
With this innings, Rohit has now accumulated 51 sixes in the history of the Cricket World Cup, surpassing West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who held the previous record with 49 sixes. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell sits in the third spot with 43 sixes.
In addition to this feat, Rohit broke the record for hitting the most sixes in a single World Cup edition. He has now hit 28 sixes in the tournament, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 26 in the 2015 edition.
In the ten matches of this tournament so far, Rohit has scored 550 runs at an impressive average of 55.00 and a strike rate of over 124. His best score is 131, and he has recorded a century and three fifties in the tournament, making him the fourth-highest run-scorer.
The ‘Hitman’ also achieved the milestone of completing 1,500 runs in Cricket World Cup history, making him the fifth batter to achieve this feat.
