India’s thrilling victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai has led to major movements in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings. The six-time finalists clinched their third title with a four-wicket win, and several key performers have been rewarded with ranking boosts.

Rohit Sharma and Kohli Kohli Rise

Shubman Gill continues to dominate the ODI batting charts, maintaining his position as the No. 1-ranked batter after another impressive tournament. Veteran skipper Rohit Sharma, who played a match-winning knock of 76 in the final and was named Player of the Match, jumped two places to third.

Virat Kohli, who contributed 218 runs throughout the tournament, held firm in the top five, currently ranked fifth. His consistency ensured India’s batting lineup remained solid throughout their victorious campaign.

New Zealand Batters Also Make Gains

New Zealand’s top-order batters saw significant improvements in their rankings. Daryl Mitchell climbed one spot to sixth, while Rachin Ravindra made an outstanding leap of 14 places to secure the 14th position after a string of stellar performances. Glenn Phillips also entered the top 25, jumping six places to sit at 24th.

Mitchell Santner Leads Bowling Surge

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner saw the biggest rise in the bowling rankings. The left-arm spinner, who picked up nine wickets during the tournament, including two in the final, moved up six positions to second place, trailing only Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana.

Michael Bracewell also made notable progress, leaping 10 spots to reach 18th.

India’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also climbed the rankings. Kuldeep, with seven wickets in the tournament, moved up three places to third, while Jadeja, who played a crucial role in India’s unbeaten run, entered the top 10.

All-Rounders Shake Up Rankings

In the all-rounder rankings, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai held onto the No. 1 spot but now faces tough competition. Santner moved up to fourth, Bracewell jumped to seventh, and Jadeja climbed to eighth after their all-round performances throughout the tournament.

With these changes, the ICC ODI rankings reflect the impact of India’s dominant campaign and New Zealand’s spirited run in the Champions Trophy 2025.
