Rohit Sharma Excited For IPL 2025: “Mumbai Is Special To Me!”

New Delhi [India], October 31: Rohit Sharma is set to continue his journey with the Mumbai Indians (MI) after being announced as one of the retained players for the IPL 2025 season. This marks an ongoing relationship with the franchise that he has successfully led over the years.

Continued Commitment to Mumbai Indians

Despite speculation about a potential move during the upcoming auction, the Mumbai Indians successfully retained their former captain. Rohit took to MI’s official X handle to express his delight, sharing a heartfelt message about his long-standing association with the team.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Mumbai Indians yet again. I have played so much cricket in Mumbai; this is the place where I started my cricket career. So this city is very, very special,” said Rohit. He reflected on the memories he has created with the team and expressed his dedication to turning around the team’s recent fortunes.

Retention and Financial Details

Rohit Sharma was retained for ₹16.30 crore, making him the fourth-highest earner on the team, following Jasprit Bumrah (₹18 crore) and Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav (₹16.35 crore each). This retention reinforces Mumbai’s strong Indian core, which also includes talented players like Tilak Varma.

With Rohit’s retirement from T20 internationals after the recent World Cup victory, the IPL remains his primary focus in the T20 format. Addressing his position as the fourth-highest earner, he expressed no concerns, emphasizing his passion for the franchise.

Focus on Future Success

“Since I have retired from the format, I think this is the perfect [retention] spot for me. The players who are representing the national team at the highest level should get the preference. That’s what I believe in, and I am quite happy with it,” added Rohit, highlighting his commitment to the Mumbai Indians and their future success.

As Rohit Sharma prepares for IPL 2025, fans and players alike eagerly anticipate the return of the team’s competitive spirit, hoping to reclaim their position as one of the leading franchises in the league.
