Royal Challengers Bengaluru returned to winning form on Monday as they won the high-scoring encounter at the historic Wankhede Stadium against Mumbai Indians, defeating the hosts by 12 runs. It was RCB’s third victory in the current IPL 2025 edition, all of which were away from home. Their lone loss was at the Chinnaswamy against Gujarat Titans last week, While Rajat Patidar the RCB captain faced some trouble.

Rajat Patidar Fined for Slow Over-Rate Despite Victory

Even after the victory over MI, Rajat Patidar got himself into trouble, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to take severe action. Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Patidar was fined when his team kept a slow over-rate during the IPL match against Mumbai Indians.

“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined INR 12 lakhs,” read the IPL media release.

Patidar Thanks Krunal Pandya for Match-Winning Final Over

Patidar did receive the Player of the Match award for his blistering knock of 64 off 32 but was lavish in praise for Krunal Pandya for his gallantry in the last over of their nail-biting encounter against the five-time IPL champions.

The victory at the Wankhede was RCB’s first in the venue over Mumbai Indians in 10 years, but the fight was in the balance till the last moment, with 19 runs required by the hosts in the final six balls. Krunal disposed of Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar in the opening two deliveries of the final over, then despatched Naman Dhir in the penultimate delivery to return figures of 4-45 and claim his brother Hardik’s side their fourth loss in five.

“It wasn’t easy and the way that he bowled was amazing,” Patidar said. “The way he showed courage was fantastic. It was pretty clear that we had to take the game as deep as we can, and then we could use one over of KP at the end.”
