R Ashwin’s YouTube Channel Drops CSK Match Analysis — Here’s Why

Ravichandran Ashwin’s popular YouTube channel will no longer preview or review Chennai Super Kings (CSK) games for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The decision comes in the aftermath of stinging criticism over a comment made by a guest on the channel about CSK’s spinner choice.

The row started when Prasanna Agoram, a former South African and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) data analyst, made a guest appearance on the channel. He asked CSK to explain why they had chosen Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad ahead of Indian veterans such as Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

After the outcry, the video was taken off the platform. Although Ashwin did not appear in the incident, fans associated the backlash with him, so the channel posted a clarification.

Admin Issues Official Statement Over Ashwin’s Channel

Ashwin’s YouTube channel admin put out a statement saying that they would be keeping CSK talk off their page from now on.

“Considering the tone of the debates on this forum in the past week, we wish to exercise caution regarding how things are read and have decided to desist from reporting CSK games, previews as well as reviews, for the remainder of this season,” the statement stated.

The note also clarified that guest comments do not reflect Ashwin’s personal opinions.

“We value the diversity of perspectives that come through on our shows and remain committed to ensuring the conversation stays true to the integrity and purpose of the platform we’ve established. The views expressed by our guests do not reflect Ashwin’s personal opinions.”

CSK Coach Reacts: “I Have No Idea”

CSK skipper Stephen Fleming was questioned on the controversy after the team lost to Delhi Capitals recently. He seemed oblivious to the situation.

“I have no idea,” said Fleming. “I didn’t even know he [Ashwin] had a channel, so I don’t follow that stuff. That’s irrelevant.”

Controversy apart, Ashwin’s channel will continue to stream other teams and general IPL content throughout the season.
