Pakistan, Shakib Penalised by ICC, Lose Match Fee Due to This Reason – Know Here

Pakistan was penalized six World Test Championship (WTC) points for a slow over rate during the opening Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. The team, led by Shan Masood, was found to be six overs short of the required rate, prompting the International Cricket Council (ICC) to deduct six points from their WTC standings. Additionally, Pakistan was fined 30% of the match fee after Masood accepted the charges and the proposed sanctions. Bangladesh also faced consequences for a slow over rate, losing three WTC points and 15% of their match fee.

Following these penalties, Pakistan remained in the eighth position in the WTC standings, while Bangladesh dropped to seventh. South Africa benefited from these changes, moving up to sixth place. In a separate incident, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was fined 10% of his match fee and received a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident occurred during the 33rd over of Pakistan’s second innings when Shakib threw the ball at Mohammad Rizwan inappropriately. The punishment was in accordance with Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses throwing any cricket equipment at or near players or officials in a dangerous manner.

Despite these disciplinary issues, Bangladesh secured a historic victory against Pakistan in the first Test. Spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan played pivotal roles, taking seven wickets between them. Mehidy took 4-21, while Shakib claimed 3-44, leading to Pakistan’s collapse on the fifth day as they were bowled out for 146 runs in 55.5 overs. Bangladesh needed only 30 runs to win, which openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam achieved in just 6.3 overs. Zakir hit the winning boundary, finishing unbeaten on 15, while Shadman remained not out on nine. This victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever Test win over Pakistan, making it a memorable achievement for the team.
