Jasprit Bumrah continues to break records, surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-time rating points record in the ICC rankings. Ashwin held the previous record for eight years with a rating of 904, achieved in December 2016, the highest ever by an Indian bowler. Bumrah has now set a new benchmark with 907 rating points, becoming the highest-ranked Indian bowler in history.

Bumrah’s rating is also tied for the 17th highest in the all-time rankings, alongside England’s Derek Underwood. The world’s top-ranked Test bowler, Bumrah delivered another stellar performance in Melbourne, despite India’s heavy loss to Australia. He took 9 wickets in the match, raising his series tally to 30 from four games. Before the Test, Bumrah had matched Ashwin’s rating of 904 points, but his impressive performance in Melbourne propelled him past Ashwin, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket.

Australia’s Pat Cummins, who was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance in the 4th Test, earned 15 additional rating points following his six-wicket haul. Cummins now occupies the third spot in the ICC Test bowler rankings. He also climbed to third place in the Test all-rounder rankings, thanks to his 90 crucial runs during Australia’s 184-run victory in the match.

In the Test batter rankings, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 82 runs in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test, moved up to a career-best fourth place with 854 rating points. Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s maiden Test century lifted him 20 places to 53rd.

South African pacer Marco Jansen, who claimed seven wickets in a thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Centurion Test, reached a career-high fifth place, surpassing 800 rating points for the first time. Aiden Markram also saw an improvement in his rankings after scoring 89 and 37 in the same match, rising eight places to 15th among Test batters.
