Bengaluru FC dominated NorthEast United with a 2-0 victory, reviving their Indian Super League 2024-25 campaign and climbing to fourth place on Friday.

Early Lead Sets the Tone

Ryan Williams struck early, scoring in the third minute. Alberto Noguera sealed the win with a goal in the 81st minute at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Coach Gerard Zaragoza’s team now has 34 points from 21 matches. NorthEast United stays in fifth place with 32 points.

Bengaluru’s Aggressive Start

Bengaluru FC controlled possession from the start. They passed the ball quickly, shifting play from the center to the wings to break through NorthEast United’s defense.

Williams, usually a wide player, moved centrally and capitalized on a slick pass from Noguera. He slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, giving Bengaluru an early lead.

NorthEast United’s Response

The home side almost equalized in the 18th minute. Redeem Tlang sent a sharp cross to Alaaeddine Ajaraie, who powered a header on target. However, Bengaluru’s goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte made a crucial save.

Tlang continued to threaten, setting up Phalguni Singh in the 31st minute. Phalguni fired from distance, but his shot sailed high and wide.

Bengaluru responded immediately. Pedro Capo headed a pass to Noguera outside the box. Noguera’s shot, like Phalguni’s, missed the target.

Second Half Battle

Both teams pushed forward after halftime, trying to gain control.

NorthEast United introduced Nestor Albiach, who created a scoring chance. Thoi Singh delivered a perfect cross, and Nestor directed it on goal. Ralte, once again, made a strong save.

Goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh launched a long ball to Ajaraie. The forward had space to drive into the box but instead attempted a long-range shot. His effort drifted wide.

Noguera Seals the Victory

Bengaluru FC pressed for a second goal in the closing minutes. A defensive miscue in NorthEast United’s box gave Noguera the perfect chance. He reacted quickly, striking a loose ball into the bottom left corner in the 81st minute.

Bengaluru Secures Three Points

Bengaluru FC held firm, securing their second consecutive clean sheet. The victory earned them three crucial points, strengthening their position in the ISL standings.
