NorthEast United FC and Mohammedan SC played out a goalless draw at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Friday in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. Both teams took two shots on target and made 10 interceptions. However, NorthEast United FC was more effective on the wings, making 27 crosses compared to just eight by Mohammedan SC. Despite this, Mohammedan SC defended well, keeping the league’s highest-scoring team at bay.

Early Chance for Mohammedan SC

The first real chance of the match came in the 18th minute for Mohammedan SC. Although they struggled to break into NorthEast United FC’s box, Adison Singh created an opening. He lobbed the ball to Alexis Gomez, who took a delicate touch and fired a left-footed shot. Unfortunately, it went wide of the target.

Alaaeddine Ajaraie stepped up and played a clever pass to an unmarked Parthib Gogoi in the penalty box. Gogoi had enough time to shoot, but his effort was blocked by the Mohammedan SC defense, leading to a corner for the Highlanders.

Mohammedan SC Almost Scores

In the 60th minute, Mohammedan SC had another chance. Gomez took a free-kick from distance, aiming for the top right corner. His shot beat the NorthEast United FC wall, but Gurmeet Singh reacted quickly, saving the effort and keeping the score level.

Close Calls for Both Teams

In the 70th minute, NorthEast United FC came close to scoring. Guillermo Fernandez received a corner from Buanthanglun Samte. He was in a good position but couldn’t get the ball past Mohammedan SC’s Padam Chhetri, who defended excellently.

Eight minutes later, Mohammedan SC had their chance. Mohammed Bemammer crossed for Asheer Akhtar, but Akhtar couldn’t get a solid header on the ball. The match ended 0-0, with both teams unable to capitalize on their chances.
