In Dusseldorf, Germany, the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team faced a tough defeat against Germany, with a final score of 6-4 in the fifth match of their Tour of Europe on Monday.
Despite conceding six goals early in the match, Indian Junior Women’s Hockey showcased remarkable spirit, rallying to score four goals and assert themselves in the second half. Sanjana Horo, Bhinima Dan, and Kanika Siwach were the goal-scorers for India.
Germany took an early lead in the first quarter, doubling it soon after. Although India’s defence faced a tough challenge, they managed to save multiple penalty corners. However, despite winning a penalty corner themselves, the score remained 2-0 in favour of Germany at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, India struggled to find opportunities to score while Germany added another goal, entering halftime with a 3-0 lead.
The dominance continued for Germany in the third quarter as they scored three more goals, extending their lead to 6-0. India finally found a breakthrough with a late goal from Sanjana Horo.
In the final quarter, India mounted a strong comeback, with Sanjana Horo scoring her second goal, followed by goals from Bhinima Dhan and Kanika Siwach. Despite the commendable effort, the match concluded with Germany securing a 6-4 victory.
The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team will look to bounce back in their next match against Oranje Rood in Breda, Netherlands, scheduled for 29th May.
