India fight back on Day 3, with Australia still in command

Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur’s 108-run partnership on day 3 reignited India’s hope of making a comeback in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) against Australia at the Oval, on Friday.
After lunch, Australian bowlers came back strongly and bowled out India on 296. With a first innings lead of 173, Australia are in a strong position. The Indian bowlers have tightened the screw in the second innings and never allowed the Aussies to score briskly.
Siraj and Umesh sent both the openers, Warner and Khawaja, back to the hut cheaply. They scored 1 and 13 runs, respectively. When the news was last written at that time, Australia were 62 for two in the 23rd over.
When the play started on the third day, India were in deep trouble and had lost their overnight batsman, Bharat. The team was under tremendous pressure. However, Rahane and Thakur kept their nerve and coped with the opponent’s bowlers with courage.

Things were looking healthy for India. Cummins got rid of Rahane on 89. He played some extraordinary shots. After that, Shardul Thakur completed his half century, but he did not stay long and got out on 51. The entire team got out on 296.
