‘I Worked on My Game’ : Siraj Opens Up About Missing Out on Champions Trophy

Mohammed Siraj delivered a stunning performance in the IPL as Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. He picked up 4 wickets for just 17 runs — his best figures this season. The match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, his home ground.

Family Support Lifted His Spirit

After the match, Siraj spoke about the emotional boost he received. His family was watching from the stands, and that gave him extra motivation. “When you come to your home ground, it’s a special feeling. My family was there in the crowd, and that lifted me up,” he said while receiving the Player of the Match award.

Hard Work Paid Off

Siraj shared how much effort he has put into improving his bowling and mindset.
“I have played for seven years for RCB. I have worked hard on my bowling and also on my mindset, it’s working well for me,” he added.

Bounced Back After Setbacks

Earlier, Siraj faced disappointment after being dropped from the national team. He missed the Champions Trophy 2025, which India went on to win. Still, he stayed focused. “At one time, I was not able to digest it, but I kept my spirits up and worked on my fitness and game,” he said.
He added, “Whatever mistakes I was making, I worked on those and I’m enjoying my bowling.”

Stayed Positive Despite Doubts

The pacer admitted that being left out affected his confidence. “As a professional, when you are consistently with the Indian team, a doubt grows in your mind, but I cheered myself up and was looking forward to the IPL,” he explained.

Early Breakthroughs in the Match

Right from the start, Siraj bowled with aggression. He dismissed Travis Head in the first over. Soon after, he got rid of Abhishek Sharma during the powerplay. Reverse Swing Seals the Game. Even more impressive was his bowling in the death overs. In the 19th over, Siraj used reverse swing to take two more wickets. This effort helped restrict SRH to a modest total, which Titans chased down with ease.

Worked on His Weaknesses

Earlier, Siraj struggled with the old ball. Even captain Rohit Sharma had pointed this out before the Champions Trophy. But in this game, Siraj showed clear improvement in that area. His hard work finally paid off.
