The Indian women’s cricket team has announced its squad for the three-match ODI series against Ireland, starting on January 10, 2025, in Rajkot. Smriti Mandhana will take over the captaincy, with Deepti Sharma serving as vice-captain. Among the fresh faces, Raghavi Beast and Sayali Satghar have earned their spots in the team. Pratika Rawal and Tanuja Kanwar, who debuted during the ODI series against the West Indies, have retained their places in the squad.
All eyes will be on India’s performance in this series. The Indian women’s team has dominated their Irish counterparts in ODIs, winning all 12 matches played between the two teams to date. Ireland is yet to secure a victory against India in the format.
For Ireland, this series poses a significant challenge. Their star wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter has been ruled out due to injury, with 20-year-old Joanna Loughran stepping in. Loughran made her international debut in February 2024 but missed the recent tour of Bangladesh. Additionally, Alice Tector will also miss the series as she continues her recovery from an injury.
