Sourav Ganguly recently spoke on the topic of the batting depth in the Indian cricket team and highlighted Shubman Gill in his unusual remark. What was his whole comment?

In the opening match of the Champion’s Trophy on Thursday Team India delivered a nerve-wracking performance, securing a dominant six-wicket victory over the team of Bangladesh.

The Bowlers stole the show with Mohammed Shami picking a fifer and also Harshit Rana making a grand ICC tournament debut by securing three wickets to his name. However, India’s depth of batting can also be seen. And that’s where Ganguly drops his odd remark.

India started strong, with a target of 227 runs. India lost some major wickets of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel was lost during the middle overs. Thankfully the situation was handled when KL Rahul (41*), arrived at no. 6 and partnered with Shubman Gill (101*), who went on scoring a century.

What does Ganguly say?

Sourav Ganguly, former captain of India’s cricket team shared his thoughts on the batting order of the Indian cricket team. He added ‘ Five Shubman Gill’ in his comment. The comment was majorly made to highlight the line of potential centurions in the Indian batting order.

Ganguly says “India have five Shubman Gills from one, two, three, four, five, six — who can all score hundreds and win matches. When Axar Patel bats at five for India, can you imagine the depth?” quoted by PTI.

Adding on “Yesterday (Thursday), India was in a spot of bother, but then they had KL Rahul coming in. They had Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya… There’s batting after batting. India have a house of talent because of the systems we have and the way we play our cricket.”
