FA Cup: Manchester United made late comeback in semifinals

After struggling for the majority of the game, Manchester United finally secured a place in the FA Cup semifinals. The match which was held at the Old Trafford saw the United winning the game against London club by 3-1.

For those who are unversed, let us tell you, United fell behind early in the second half when Fulham forward Alexander Mitrovic headed home a corner after 50 minutes to put the Londoners ahead. For the most of the match, they struggled but got the best

United struggled to create chances for most of the match, but they got the best opportunity in the most controversial moment. Willian of Fulham was sent off for a professional foul after he stopped Jadon Sancho’s goal-bound effort with his hand.

The penalty award and subsequent red card for Willian following a VAR review caused Fulham players and staff to lose their cool, and in the ensuing wrestling brawl, Serbian striker Mitrovic, who had given Fulham the lead, was sent off, as was the Cottagers’ coach Marco Silva.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up and scored from the penalty spot, bringing Manchester United level and signalling the game’s turning point.

Fulham collapsed with nine men and without any coach and were quickly behind as Marcel Sabitzer opened his account with a neat near-post finish to make it 2-1 to the Red Devils.

Fulham attempted to force a replay and even made four substitutions to delay full time, but it backfired as they conceded a third goal.
